I have hair just like you and I can't ever get it to look good in a braid. I like to take the side pieces and tie them together in the back. If you want you can add some cute clips to dress it up a bit.

I agree with Amber. I sometimes put a ton of mousee and hair gel, crunch my hair and put it up with a few face framing pieces falling out of it.
