They're a bit intimidating to ask help for at first, but they really do have good knowledge, especially the mac/sephora ladies. :) it's not overwhelming, sometimes they can be annoying trying to advertise a product but they're not too bad. :)

Some can be rude and some can be helpful...I guess it depends on the associate and if she is having a good or bad day...

Overwhelming. I hate it when I walk into (any) store and feel like I'm being followed by the people who work there. I don't mind if they come and ask me if I need any help, but if they do, it has to be just once. If I need help, I will ask for it. On the other hand, I hate it when I need help in a shop and there isn't a sales person to be found!!

They remind me of shopping at the Buckle. If I'm not dressed to the T with full makeup on I've always got the feeling I was being looked down on.

I'm more of a browser than a buyer when it comes to makeup. I can literally be in a store for an hour comparing products and looking up reviews on my phone. I super choosy about the products I buy so I feel pressured when the sale associate stands behind me asking if I need help a million times. I know they work on commission sometimes, but I feel uncomfortable.

I agree with Jillian! I feel pressured when I go in to browse but constantly being asked if I need help. Sometimes you want to just browse in peace! I wish they would just know that if we need help, we'll ask.

I agree :-) I thought I was the only one! I get so annoyed being asked if I'm ok or need help every 5 min, I feel like I'm being stalked and its not just by different employees its the same employees asking me multiple times and I just want to say please back off cause I do know how to ask for help if I need it :-) one particular store is really bad.. otherwise my experiences have been fairly pleasant except for the sales pitches and upselling but I expect that to a point, some are worse than others.

I agree with Niki, and I would never go to a semi high-end store unless I'm flawlessly dressed. Usually the "I'm just looking for now" works to get them off your back, but if I feel like they they are still staring at me I will definitely leave the store. I need peace and time to try out products and consider my purchase, especially when buying makeup. Usually I will look up reviews on my phone because they're sometimes just looking to make a sale rather than helping to find the right product. Some are great though, mustn't forget that.
