Can someone tell me how I can cover these scars? The problem is that they are not red, but black in color. Despite the concealers the dark scars just seep through. Please please help! It's my birthday on Saturday and I want to look nice!

I have the same problem ): what I found that really works is to put a yellow based concealer on the scars first (opposites on the colour wheel, therefore, it will help to hide) the use a heavy duty concealer on top. I use this trick not only for my dark acne scars, but for my dark circles as well and it works wonders :) you'll want to set it with a powder though, to help it stay in place.

Start by priming your scars
apply a dark orange corrector (the darker your scars the darker the orange needs to be) in thin layers, gently powdering till you can no longer see the scar, and your now left with an orange patch. Make sure to powder well between each application! Then gently go over area with your skin tone foundation or concealer. Powder. In the future you should look for an alcohol based correcting makeup, won't move at all!!

If you're looking for a long term solution, use products with AHA, glycolic acid and vitamin C. These help in cell turnover and will reduce and speed up the reduction of these scars. Try Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Face Peels. You'll see results in about a week!

Hi I'm a cosmetologist! I agree with Kim, the concealer needs to be more of a yellow. But really whether the concealer has a yellow or orange hue depends on your skins hue. Typically dark scars have more of a purple hue, if its a warm (more reddish) purple you need yellow with a bit of a green undertone- if its cool (more blueish) purple you need a yellow with a bit of the orange.
Make up made for tattoos will give you the best coverage, but good brands can be hard to find bc each one will react differently to your skin. Best bet is to hit up a make up store and try a little bit of every thing. Try to get mini samples so you can take them home and see how they look hours after application too!

Tea tree oil is suppose to help heal scars. I use the body shops tea tree facial cleanser and it works wonders.
