Start with a lighter hand and then build it up... you can always add more but its hard to take away, also it doesn't have to be black and grey, smokey eyes look good with all colors :)

Make sure to blend, blend, blend! The biggest problem I see girls have with smokey eyes is that they don't blend well enough so either each color looks divided or it all just looks like mush.

Use a different brush to blend, not the one you used to apply the color.
