It depends on what types of extensions you want, how many you want, and the length.

Get human hair! It's easier to straighten or curl. That comes with a price though. Depending on how long you want your hair to be and what color it is also depends on the price. If you have a hard hair color to match I would just let your hair grow and not to bother to try and dye extensions. They can run on average from $100-$300 so make sure it's something you really want before putting the money in. Synthetic hair is cheaper, however it looks cheaper and will get gross by the time summer is in full swing.

I go to a proper wig/extension specialist near where I live and managed to pick up 16.5" indian remy hair for £75, it should of been more but I managed to barter with the shop owner, it was the softest hair in the shop. I would say don't pay any less than about £50 for human hair, feel as many different samples as you can, you want the softest smoothest possible because it won't break as easily. I would usually be willing to pay upwards of £120 for a decent set. I never buy pre clipped either, I always measure to my own head and sew the clips on my self in double or triple wefts.
