Right now, I'm just using several containers that have different compartments from my local Asda, so I can store foundations, primers, liquid liners, dazzle dust, shadows etc.all in their own compartment yet keep my desk still tidy. I just put all my liners and mascaras in mugs I was given for xmas (never use them otherwise I don't drink tea/coffee/hot chocolate xD). I have another small container with a lid for lashes. I'm waiting on 2 acrylic lipstick holders that hold 24 lippys each to arrive. I use an old cotton bud container to put all my lipglosses in. My nail polish is stationed on 3 layers round round the edges of two stacked boxes til I can get a nail rack. It was inexpensive, and it works and looks nice. I actually wish I had a even smaller box to make another layer. When I have more money I will definitely be going for acrylic drawers for my lip and face products.
One neat idea I saw included gluing together 4-in-1 cotton bud boxes (that were 4 small boxes all attached being glued to other ones) and being used to store lipstick, there's also using Styrofoam and a glue gun to make a nail rack. I'm not from the states so a lot of that stuff isn't available to me. From what I've seen of guru's on youtube there's dollar stores in the US and Canada that have some great storage solutions, you should look around your local store.
