If you twist it, you'll get really gorgeous loose spirals. A lot more like that picture of Miley than braids will give you. Braids will give you a smaller and tighter curl/wave, not something beachy, really. You can't really sleep with your hair twisted in a loose spiral, though, so it's better if you just leave it like that for an hour or so before you leave.
