Okay youdntneed to burn to tan because the burning is what causes skincancer not tanning go out between the hours of 9 to 10 and 2 to 4 to tan and stay on one side untill you feel the burn you can flip back and fourth as much as you want.

Just use a fake tanner. As a red-head you are at very high risk for skin cancer. There is no reason to tan outside or in a bed, when there are completely safe alternatives available.
I've had skin cancer twice and I have to submit to a full body MRI every month to make sure it hasn't spread to any organs. You don't want to go through this, nor the premature aging. Just use a tanning lotion or mist-- there are several threads here on Beautylish that recommend products and offer tips.

@Rose D.: Any exposure to ultraviolet radiation (such as the sun, or a tanning bed) increases the risk of skin cancer. A tan is the skin reacting to cellular damage from that radiation, no burn required.

Red heads can't attempt to tan without burning, and burning causes skin cancer. Trust me I'm a redhead and my dad had skin cancer, thankfully not anymore but some people do die from it!
