I'd have to say MAC all the way, over the years I've collected a bunch of their brushes and I can for certain say that they are by far the BEST brushes I've ever bought. Your makeup goes on so nicely with them, and they'll last you a very long time with good care :]

I am not sure if these are considered high end but I would say Real Techniques and Royal & Langnickel (especially their amazing Revolution and Silk Pro lines).

The Body Shop has awesome awesome brushes. They don't have a large selection - about 7 different brushes but they are awesome!! Soft, not too stiff yet not too fluffy.
