You could try braiding it while wet, but that is more of a wavy look.

Okay..I've never done this on myself, but I have on my 2 yr old who has really long hair n it turned out SO pretty! (spiral curls) With her, I seperated her hair into pigtails, n twisted them, then wrapped them up into a bun shape n secured em. With your hair, I'd do quite a few n leave em in while you sleep. Experiment with wet n dry hair. Hers was slightly damp, if not dry..but she's also only 2 with very fine, smooth, baby hair. Lol Try it n let me know what happens! :-) ( P.S. I personally would prob do damp hair, maybe with a little mousse n as many little "buns" as you feel up to). It's VERY simple.

Sorry..and I also agree about the gel. Prob less stiff feeling than mousse.

Do rag braids, works really well and is easy. You can find videos on YouTube. Pretty much just taking an old Tshirt or rag and ripping it into strips then take small pieces of hair and wrap it around rag and the. Tie ends together. Go to sleep and wake up with beautiful curls

Alya church out my post called Heatless curls. All I did was the night before with clean damp almost dry hair run mouse in it, section like you are doing pigtails, wrap into 2 buns, secure with scrunchies. The next morning undo and add any serum or extra mousse if needed.

Use foam curlers overnight I prefer to do it with dry hair like the day after I wash when I do it wet it usually comes out frizzy.

If you don't have curlers you can use socks and tie them at the ends there is a video on YouTube that can elaborate.
