If I wear my hair in a ponytail everyday, does it slow down my hair growth?

No, what happens to the ends of your hair has no effect on new hair growth

Yes that is true. My hair has waves already like I tied a pony tail on each layer so it won't mess it up too bad :) thanks for the help!!

Hair is dead skin follicle cells that start from the shaft of your root cuticles. what you do to the ends of your hair has no ramifications on new growth. your hair grows from the root. wear your pony tail as much as you like, just not too tight or you'll damage your scalp as and hair follicles.
