I thought this was something we could all talk about.Never be discouraged when it comes to makeup,I say this because I've always had someone say they're to scared to try certain looks or they couldn't apply it right.I'm pretty sure you may know someone who said the same thing or you yourself may be thinking it and that's ok.Their is a huge Mecca of technic's we do in the makeup world it's really all trial and error and I know in this time YouTube videos and blogs are the outlet to this world and may come in handy for your goal that's completely fine.Just don't feel discouraged if it doesn't look like the video or picture, try to accomplish the look for you even if it takes another tool or your fingers or ect.we all have different face features and the best suggestion I would recommend is try it out on a friend with similar features or if they don't have similar features that's fine to, it gives you an idea how you could pull off a look.I've been in love with makeup since I was 12 but really started my makeovers at 15 always had a friend to apply the makeup on that's when I knew I could learn the most from different faces.Hey I started with 4 wet n wild brushes back then and Q-tips & cotton balls lol now 36 through the years that the only thing that changed is I have more brushes :-).Don't ever feel you need all the products on your face to pull off a look hope this helps :-) Do any of you ever feel frustrated or discouraged?

I love this post (: Great topic Alma. I always get discouraged when it comes to lipstick. I am so scared to try a Red lip. I feel I can't pull it off. I love the way it looks on others. I'm just scared to try it.

I have always been pretty plain when it comes to makeup. just because I simply can't do it. I've tried ober and over to apply eyeshadow and at the end I always feel ugly. I end wiping it off and sticking to what I'm comfortable with. I can't contour or highlight to save my life either lol. I have two boys.. a 2 1/2 and 11 month old so practice make perfect doesn't work for me lol. what I do is play up what I do know and feel good in... my lips! as simple as my make up may be my lips will always pop. I feel sexy with a vibrant lip.
so yes I get so frustrated and definitely discouraged so I stick with what I know.

@Ivette, why don't you just pick one and try it :-) that should be your goal today@Viridiana if lipstick is your knack then that's just fine :-) also when it comes to shadow you could try just one color on the lid not pass the crease and try different colors with that first then slowly move pass the crease later when you get down the lid part little steps help, but if your not into it that's ok your still beautiful :-)

I always stick to a nuetral eye because I'm too scared to try something bold! I see women at the Mac counter etc.wearing bright bold colors and it always looks good but I feel like I can't pull it off. I've tried it but can't seem to find the right balance of color without making myself look like a clown!

As I get older the discouragement sure comes more and more often and intense. I absolutely love the vibrant bold pallets that are so gorgeous to see on all you young beautylishous ladies. I am almost 50 and I try and try to soften and blend them and have tried every technique I've learned or watched and just can't get it to look age appropriate. Discouraged to feel that I may just be at that point where I just should not wear certain things and colors. Matte, semi, gloss. It seems I can't find a good inbetween. I still do my makeup pretty edgy for my age but I want to use the current pallets. Discouraged yes!
