First of all I have to say I love this place! I am finding this community to be so kind to each other and there is not nearly enough of that in the word.
I am a licensed cosmetologist, theater trained make-up artist, and a professional eyebrow threader. I want to give you a pro's thoughts on anything hair, skin, or nail related that you need help with!
I see a lot of questions about what works for this and that with lots of helpful replies but if you're seeking an answer from someone who knows a little more about the science of everything I'm your girl!
I also have a blog that concentrates on things like this too at lovelyhairbushytails.wordpress.com

Hi Dina,I have a hair question I want this haircut that Janet Jackson had in the later 80's I really like the cut, so I want to know what do I say to the the person that cuts my hair? What do you call this cut? and I don't want the back cut into layers (Rachel) friends cut lol because every time I try to explain the look I want I always end up with Rachel hair :-\

Ashley- winged liner is not as easy to master as many of wish it would be! this takes a steady and practiced hand to achieve so my best advice is to practice, practice, practice. other than that I personally feel that the best results are achieved using a flat angled brush with a gel liner. I use MAC fluidline in blacktrack. an angle brush will help you get a more consistent shape and flick angle than a pencil!

Alma- I'd get as many pictures of the cut as you could and from as many angles as possible. this will be the surest way to show your stylist what you want and as long as he/she can breakdown the cut in their minds they should be able to execute it beautifully for you!

Alma that pic really helps! its the classic pivot point vertical layer cut! if they went to a pivot point school they should be able to knock this out no problem. and names for hair cuts are not as helpful as most people think. there are so many variations or the 'rachael' even on jennifer anisten so its hard to pinpoint exactly what a client means when they ask for a cut by name. pictures are the best helpers! and that cut will look stunning on you!

Glad to help :) I've been on both sides of the chair so I can relate to the anxiety on both sides when a stylist is not 100% sure what a client is asking for. Pictures are your best friend in the hair world bc in the end it either looks like the pic or not! Part of that look will include some styling requirements but nothing that your stylist won't be able to show you!

My eyebrows are really light so I shade them in. I have a heavy hand so I make them too dark most of the time... do you have any products or tips I should use.

What are you using right now? I just wrote a blog about that too! I don't think it posted yet but ill go put it up right now for you. go to lovelyhairandbushytails.wordpress.com
another thing you could consider is dying them. don't use regular hair dye though, there are specially formulated products for eyebrows and lashes, I'd visit a pro if you want to go that route for the first visit so you can see how its done and if you like the results before spending money on the supplies

As long as you're using the right shades either color would look fab on you! Reds do tend to fade the quickest so I think the caramel would be easier to maintain. Plus with that gorgeous skin tone of yours the caramel will make your face pop!

What do you think of eyeshadow crayons? Are they worth buying? Thanks so much for answering my question!

I also wanted to ask about hair. I have very curly but thin hair, it's also long. Do you have any suggestions on how to enhance the curl?

I have thick and curly hair that frizzes easily. Are there any low maintenance cuts that would look good? Thanks.

I have super oily skin when I shower my face gets oily after about 1-2 hours. is there anything that can help my skin from being so oily all the time?
May 21, 2013
Dina U.
Narissa- Eyeshadow crayons are great but they work best when using a primer underneath them. some times it helps to have a setting powder over them as well. how do you want to enhance your curl?

Abby- there is a 'new' paul mitchell cut that layers your hair on the inside and takes a lot of weight off but doesn't push hair out like normal layers do with curly hair. Look into paul mitchell salons in your area and they should know what I'm talking about as long as they are up on their education!

Sharilyn- I know this is going to sound crazy but you need a moisturizer! when you wash your face you strip your face of dirt and the necessary oils it needs to remain healthy. once your body realizes all the oils are gone it kicks into overdrive to replace them. by using a moisturizer it will stop your body from freaking out and help you take control of your skin. I'd recommend a moisturizer with acne control like the clean and clear oil free moisturizer with salicylic acid. thats what I use and its great bc its not oily but its provides my face with all the moisturizers it needs but keeps me from breaking out.

Help! My foundation won't sit on my skin it almost turns to powder and goes patchy and always disappears from the bridge of my nose. It never looks flawless or natural no matter what I use or how I apply.
