I don't use either but I want to start. What is the order that you apply everything? I know you would apply primer first, but do you apply concealer second and then your foundation? Also, what are the benefits of a primer and what cheap drugstore brand would you suggest?

Concealer comes after foundation. So you know what you need to cover up. And primer helps foundation glide onto your skin. In my opinion all primers are the same.

Smash box photo finish primer is my favourite and I absolutely love rimmels concealors.

Instead of spending the 40$ on smash box's photo finish primer- go get monistat chafing relief powder gel (weird I know but it WORKS!) it's the same ingredients as smashbox for a fraction of the price, this is $7 I think.. And I love love love NYX concealer in a jar from ulta it's around $5! And it's always primer, concealer and then foundation but sometimes you can later for extra coverage or go over under eye circles with concealer over foundation- (the only reason I do this is because my concealer is 3 shades lighter than my skin tone) so it will lighten up underneath my foundation but honestly you can do either looks best on you!! Just make sure you set your concealer and foundation with either a pressed powder or a white hd setting powder.

Thank you so much ladies. if you're covering blemishes how many shades lighter should your concealer be?

It should be as close to your skin tone then if you need it to just blend into your foundations for scars/breakouts/imperfections - although I will sometimes use a lighter concealer underneath my foundation to cover blemishes, with the foundation & powder over your skin & concealer the lighter shade won't matter!

Primer is the first step. Generally used to create a smooth canvas for foundation. There are many primers out there but I would go with one specific to your skin type. If you have oily skin finds one that helps control the oil.the same applies for dry or normal skin. As for concealer and foundation, it ultimately comes down to what look you desire. If you wish to highlight you're face choose a concealer 1 to 2 shades lighter than your skintone. This look you would want to apply concealer AFTER your foundation. If you just want to cover up blemishes, choose a concealer that matches you're skintone exactly. For this look your can apply before or after. Try both and see which one you prefer. Hope this helped you. Good luck.

For concealers I use Sonia kashuk hiden agenda palette its like $7 at target and I use a corrector cause I have naturally dark under eye so I use either benefit erase paste or bobbi browns they work great.. a dupe for smashbox primer is palladios its at salley beauty I wanna say under $10 but I use tarte primer and I promise it will be worth the money gives you an amazing base. to apply it is however you like I put a primer then my eye corrector then my foundation and then concealer because I want to brighten so I use like a shade or 2 lighter than my skin tone:)
