Can short girls wear maxi dresses/skirts?

I am just barely five ft two and quite curvy.. size 14. I am wondering if wearing a maxi would make me look shorter and how I should style it? I was looking at a pic someone posted and loved the look but I don't know if I could pull it off considering my height.

You should never wear that dress ever wear something much shorter please you'll look pretty trust me girl.

Maxi dresses and skirts make you look taller. Especially with heels! I'm only 5"3' and people always tell me it makes me look taller. Also high waisted shorts and jeans, the perfect clothing to make you look taller :)

Hi Mollie,

Dana is right. Especially with the solid tone of the image you posted, it will elongate your body. Do keep in mind many maxi dresses may be too long for your height so you may need to take it in to a tailor to get hemmed. Should look great though!

I am 5'1 -&&' whenever I wear maxi dresses people who know me well say I look really tall.! ;) so you can deff. Pull it off!!(= that's a really cute dress btw!

Just make sure that the waistline is an empire rather than at your natural waist. It will give the illusion if your body being longer! Also, like Alicia P said, getting it hemmed to make sure it doesn't drag can make it look amazing!

I'm about 5ft maybe 5'1 on a good day and I wear 14 and I have plenty of maxi skirts and dresses try the high waisted ones makes you look taller and keep in mind you can always get them hemmed
