I've always had an issue with eyeshadow getting on the tops of my lashes after I apply it on my lids, making my lashes look lighter, and it's always too close to my eyelid for a mascara wand to fix it. I figured I can't be the only one with this problem. Here's what to do to get the eyeshadow off... use a fine-tipped liner brush (I use the one that came with my L'Oreal gel liner) with a bit of gel liner on the bristles, and run it down the tops of your lashes starting at the base. The gel liner picks up the fallout on your lashes, and the fine tip lets you get right up to the base. Voila, darker lashes! :-)
