What does primer do and how would it help my face out when I put makeup on?

Eyelid primer helps to make eyeshadow more vibrant and last longer. Face primer does the same.

Eyelid primer keeps your eyeshadows from creasing & lasts longer. An eyeshadow base makes the colors pop. A face primer gives your face a smooth surface for makeup application. It also helps to fill large pores.

I use "urban decay primer potion" on my eyelids and "too faced primed and poreless pure" on my face. Definitely my favorites!
