I own quite a few lipsticks I never wear because they look bad. I can't make my lips look smooth. I exfoliate them and put balm so what as the dealio..maybe the brands? They are all from drug stores.

Put some Chapstick on underneath your lipstick, and always try and use a gloss over lipstick so your lips do not look dry :)

Wear some Chapstick underneath the lipstick and make sure you are using a lip primer like too faced lip insurance.

Keep in mind that lips are natural textured so they will never been completely smooth! Make sure you use a lip balm before your lipstick and give it a minute or two to sink in. Then apply a lip pencil all over your lip (line first then fill in)..I always use one that is about the same color as my natural lip color. Apply your lipstick over that. This should give you a nice smooth look!
Lipstick doesn't stay good forever either so keep that in mind. If you feel like your lipstick tugs/drags when you are applying it than it is probably dried out and needs to be tossed.

What do you exfoliate with? And do you apply with a lip brush?
