So we've all had that horrible moment when the hair color we picked was not what it said on the box or it was left on too long. I had my hair done almost 6 months ago. I picked a Rich Medium Brown. My hair was a light brown at the time and my dirty blonde roots were coming in. So I decided to dye it that color just to cover my roots. Boy was I wrong! It turned jet black. Looked horrendous. I have very pale skin so it didn't mix well. Anyways, I listened to a professional and she said to use a clarifying shampoo and let the color fade. So I did that, nothing really happened. I was annoyed at that point. Did some research and purchased Ion Brilliance Color Corrector. I bought mine at Sally's Beauty Supply. It comes in a little purple box! Around 9$! It's a sulfate based product. NO bleach. That's what caught my eye. I finally did it and it actually lifted my black hair to a medium brown!! Yes, the smell is horrible. Smells like rotten eggs. But I kept mine in a bottle to squeeze out of! All you do is mix the two phases together and leave it on for 25 minutes. I put a shower cap over my head too. So I thought, lets try again! I let my hair rest for a day went back and bought another box. I did the whole process again and I got better results. I'm going for a honey blonde color, so this will help me out a lot until it needs to be bleached. This second time took most of the black pigment out and took it to a copper light brown. Which I was totally expecting. I did a deep conditioning treatment on it and my hair isn't fried or damaged. It's actually pretty soft.
Sorry this is so long but I hope this will help someone's hair disaster out like it did for mine :)!
The picture attached is after the 2nd process. I am so happy with the results. Good luck!!
