I went to the beach for about a week and was getting a beautiful tan but when my friends and I decided to go island hoping We forgot the sunscreen! And we spent 8 unhealthy hours getting baked! I haven't noticed anything till that evening that my skin was burning with pain. What products or remedies to you recommend?

I agree with both aloe vera gel and tea bags... green tea especially, since it's high in antioxidants. And taking Tylenol will help reduce pain and inflammation.

Black tea will take care of the redness and stinging! I am a nurse (and have had my fair share of serious sunburns!) and I can tell you from personal experience and from a medical standpoint that black tea is the quickest and most effective home treatment. The tannins in the tea help to draw out the burn and heal the skin. Make a very strong pot of tea, wet a washcloth/towel, and lay it on the burn for as long and often as you can (at least 10-15 minutes, twice a day). Or you take a bath with a ton of tea bags!! (Sounds crazy, but I've done it and it works!) Also, apple cider vinegar works really well at taking the pain away and speeding up the healing process. I know that when people think of vinegar they don't think "soothing thoughts", but it actually works to neutralize the burn by restoring the skin's pH balance and helping the skin heal more quickly. My recommendation: take a bath before you go to bed and put a TON of black tea bags in it and a whole bottle of apple cider vinegar. Soak for 30 min and you will be 1,000 times better!! I do this with every burn and it's incredible. Stinky, but incredible ;)

P.S. One of the worst things you can put on a burn is Lanolin and a lot of Aloe products have lanolin in them, which is why I usually don't recommend using it unless you're getting it straight from the plant itself!

If you can get pure aloe vera from a health food store then apply that about twice a day and the redness goes away within 2-3 days. My mom just got a horrible sunburn when we went to Jamaica a week ago and this really helped her.
