Oh man, this happens a lot (to almost everyone). Your face needs moisture most of all, but it also needs to be free of the retin-a. Wash your face, try streaming it, get some water into it. Use moisturizer tonight. Look up "natural moisturizer DIY" 's on the internet (they usually use milk). You might have to brush excess skin off with a towel (not a great idea, but it's what I have to do when this happens to me).

Thank you guys so much unfortunately I made the mistake of over exfoliating, now there is minimal pealing but my skin is pretty raw.

Hydrocortisone sometimes helps for cases like this or pure aloe vera gel.

When that happends to me I put n?vea and then foundation. I put nivea first because it helps protecting my face from the foundation, but mostly, because nivea helps to not showing my skin pealing. try it, n?vea and then foundation, it always works for me :). Sorry form my bad english :)

Try an enzyme mask, they help dissolve that flakey skin right off. They should be gentle enough as they work mainly on the surface of your skin. This is probly too late to help with your event, but maybe it will help sometime if you ever have the "need to be flake free" moment arise.

Maybe I'm too late in responding, but toease the redness and cooling cucumber mask will help. You can also use a redness diffusing mask (june jacobs) and for the flakeys, a moisturizing serum and then yout favorite moisturizer on top. Volia!
