A&D ointment with aloe..but only for the first 2 days...and only a light coating because too much product can fade the tattoo...Personally I skipped using A&D or other ointments and used Pure Coconut Oil..it works amazingly...and you can use coconut oil as much as you want for as long as you want...it also helps with the color...and helps the annoying itchy phase during the final steps of healing...hope this helps :) good luck.

Use either a product like A&D or neosporin (lightly like Savina said, pat it witha paper towel after applying to make sure there isn't too much), or any unscented lotion (scented will cause burning). Also, a lot of artist won't recommend neosporin (sorry if I'm spelling it wrong), but that is only because a lot of people tend to have a reaction to it with tattoos for some reason, I never have though.

Hi Sydney,

First, make sure before applying lotion that you are cleaning it with an antibacterial non scented soap like Dial. Personally, I have very sensitive skin and the healing ointment my artist suggested made me break out but Aquaphor is recommended. If your skin breaks out, try changing it to something more lightweight and unscented such as Lubriderm.
