My hair has lots of layers an isn't really that long so it's kinda hard to do certain hairstyles without it looking bad.. Any ideas?

A braid headband? If you used the underneath layer of your hair behind your ear to make a pair and pin it over like a headband you would get a nice two-colour effect?
