I have to get my acrylics taken off next time I go to my salon because my nails underneath have gotten too long and I know you have to take them off and get a new set every once in a while. My question is, how do they take them off, and does it hurt? I've gone to 'less than professional' salons and theyve taken one or two off before and it hurt. Like hell. So please, give me your experiences or knowledge on the subject. :)

You should go to a salon where they do it all manually by hand. I'd recommend having shellac put on your nails afterward to strengthen the nail and helps get rid of grooves in the nail that are caused by acrylics

I rather not do shellac or gel, to me they look less natural than acrylics. And don't you have to use specific nail polishes? I love using different colors, I don't wanna be restricted.

I've had horrible experiences as well with the pain of letting the nail tech rip off each nail! And sometimes some of the nails are stubborn and they're just not ready to budge! I take them off myself at home. I cut them really short and then use a flat object such as a cuticle pusher and slowly lift the nail until it comes off in one piece. It's no where near as painful as letting someone else rip them off!

Acrylic nails can be soaked off with acetone! I find this the best way, no chance of over filing or burning. I can't believe how many times people have said the nail techs pull off the nails, you should NEVER do this or let someone else do it, it can lead to very big problems for your sensitive little nails. If someone tries to pull your nails off leave!

Lol. Thats what I'm scared of is them ripping them off. I think what I'm going to do is soak em off myself with the acetone. Its probably going to save me time and money at the salon. :)

I am a nail tech and the safest way is to soak them in pure acetone and use an orange wood stick to scrape layers off its a bit time consuming but your nail beds will thank you. Don't let anyone try and pry or rip at them period!!

I can never go without my acrylics. So when I get them taken off usually they soak them in warm acetone and put a towel or something over them , then they kinda just pluck them off one by one but it can be a little time consuming so when I'm in a rush my nail lady gets a fake nail sticks it under my acrylic and kinda just pops it off but sometimes it rips my real nail :/ so you should soak them in acetone

Today I bought some acetone so once its time for me to fill again I'll try my hand at soaking them off. @Ileanaa I can't go without my acrylics too! I don't like admitting it because people always hate on them. :/
