So I stripped my red and ended up with a light brown. I put a purple semi in my hair and left it in for two hours. The thing is, it didn't grab on my hair. What should I do?

Probably because your hair should be lighter. what dye did you use?

Unnatural semi-permanent colors usually work best in lighter / bleached hair, unfortunately.

I had the same problem. My hair was not bleached enough for the color to stay it washed out a week later.

Was your hair still damp when you put on the purple? I would lighten it more, wash it out and dry it, then try again.

Purple will not go over a light brown.

Dacember, what brand of color did you use?

Dacember, mine's the same way! I bleached it twice and dyed it orange and it's still bright in some areas and dark in others. :(

I don't want to bleach it cause I have a sensitive scalp plus I want a deep purple. some hairs are purple, the color made my hair dark but not the purple I wanted.

If you stripped it and dyed it straight away it won't have stuck because you'd still have a bit of the stripper stuff on your hair. Also it will of changed the acidity of your hair. Best thing to do is use a baby shampoo (just an uncented, non coloured one) before you dye it, works everytime cause it brings the PH level back down to neutral =]

Seems to me your hair is fryed dying your hair to much cuases a lot of what your talking about to happen my advice is give your hair a break get a deep condtioner soak your hair in coconut oil give it time to get its natural oils back then try again.

I only use semis like manic panic. My hair is pretty healthy, no spilt ends or anything damaging. I stripped the red out with conditioner and cinnamon.

My recommendation from messing with color in my hair for the past 6 years is that the only way the color is going to come through is to go to a hairstylist I swear by mine! I have tried semi before and couldnt get it to stay but my hair lady bleached my hair to a light brown and then laid on the redish semi that I wanted it stayed great! Red is always a hard color to bleach or even darken because of the undertone and purple has a lot of red undertone in it (:
