I have these ridges all throughout my nails. They seem to smooth out when I do my monthly home manicures and they‘re buffed but they always seem to come back. People with smooth nails out there, is it my diet or is this just some natural, in my genes or something? (Pardon the ugly nails, I broke a bunch at work today and had to file em all down ):  )

My mamma always said if you drink more milk that it smooths it out haha.

I take multi vitamins every day but since I‘m starting out I‘m on a tight budget, so meat isn‘t always available for myself due to the price. Would a supplement work in place of that? my multi vitamin contains a lot of stuff, but I‘m not sure which specific vitamins are needed..

What do the ridges mean if they're not vertical...

They are vertical, its difficult to see in the photo but the lines starts from my cuticle and run to the very tip of my nail.

Um I know this is off topic but speaking of white spots meaning dehydation, what does it mean when it‘s on your skin? because I have white spots all on my legs. It just reminded me of that now haha.

Ok, thank you for all your help! I appreciate. I've been a nail biter for so long that now that my nails are long, I have no idea what to do with them! Haha.

White marks on the nail can also be trauma (you whacked your finger on something). I get those a lot. The ridges can be genetic or a sign of health concerns, if it is really a concern ask at your next doctor appointment. In the mean time, there are ridge fillers for your nails that act like a base for your nail polish. :)

Get a nail buffer block! I got one at the dollar store and it smooths out the surface of your nails and gets rid if the ridges. I know that revlon makes one.

Well I do own a buffer block since I do home manicures once a month or so. And they looks smooth and great, but a few weeks later I notice they come back.. haha.

Horizontal ridges are a sign of inconsistent nutrition. Vertical ridges are a sign of dehydration.
