First of all try to not iron it for a while just use a brush to straighten and always use a heat protectant before any hot tools... Hair curls better the next day after its washed or later on the day it's best when it's "dirty" so to speak so make sure of its just washed that you dry it really well and if you like add some mouse before you dry it (optional) the product will make it more pliable to curl.. And take small 1 1/2 inch or so sections at a time and spray before you curl with a curling rod or curling Iron and then before you release the curled pieces down let it sit a few seconds cupped in your hands or whatever's easier... Then after you're all finished curling give it a light flexible spray all over and then add some smoothing oil like Argon or Moroccan oil in your hands and rub together and then gently with your fingers run it through your hair like your combing it but not the roots and this will help pull apart the tight curls and smooth it out at the same time
