Go for it! Don't let what everyone else say get to you, do what you want to do. And I can't see how they should harm your son. And if you find it problematic you can always file them down. =)

Get them! :) just because other people don't like them doesn't mean that you shouldn't either and your son will be fine as long as you don't really grip him tight trying to pick him up. :)

I think for the baby don't get them. You could accidentally scratch the baby even though its "dull" it's still on long object sticking from your fingers

Just for safety purposes, I would just make them rounded a lot more. being a mommy would come first for me. good luck (:
