I bought the too faced better than ;) mascara and wasn't incredibly impressed with it so I'm on the fence debating if I should return it. If I do return it, what should I try out instead?

Marc Jacobs is cruelty free according to logical harmony and their velvet noir mascara is my absolute favorite right now. I avoided buying from them because they never used to be CF but are now and am so glad I found this mascara. the too faced better than sex gives me really good results but flakes like crazy so I pass on it as well. it does give some of the best volume and length for me though. I love the brush it comes with too. MJ is comparable to the length and volume of the too faced without the flakiness. I really like the Laura geller style lash for lower lashes, the brush is small so I find it difficult to use on my upper lashes.
Cruelty free ones I've tried and haven't liked for reference: MUFE smokey lash, benefit roller lash and they're real, the UD perversion (I love their cannonball for a waterproof option! but their parent company is not cruelty free), it cosmetics superhero (loreal bought them out so their parent company isn't CF) and tarte lights camera lashes (again, their parent company is not cruelty free), they all either left my lashes sticky and wet looking or didn't do much of anything.
it's hard to find a truly cruelty free company, and then find one that sells mascaras, and then find a good one. the MJ is the best I've tried so far but I still wish it had more volume and wispiness if I were looking for perfection
