I have always maintained black hair. but recently I have been getting a TON of gray hairs it is soo frustrating to color my hair black and then two weeks later boom all those grays are popping through... So... I decided ok, I'm going to try blonde. I have a family to take care of so while I would REALLY have preferred to go to a professional because I do know they are going to do this a million times better than me... I did it on my own.
Now I have bleached my hair twice (vol 30 developer the first time vol 20 the second time not on the same day) and tried to tone it once... it is OK. but there is a lot of dark hair (pretty brassy) at the back and (ill be honest) a few spots on top and in the front that didn't lighten as much as the rest.
My hair did not like this process, it was all the bad things at first, dry, frizzy, took a long time to air dry at first, and felt way to mushy when wet for my comfort. I KNOW it is damaged...
So now I have been doing protein treatments, moisture masks, sleeping with coconut oil/shea butter in my hair, and I stay clear of my hot iron. I keep it braided mostly. it's been a week of TLC for my hair since the last product I put in it and I am starting to see life and moisture back in my hair.. but it is still pretty brassy.
I went to sally beauty today and the lady there said I needed to do an ammonia free lightener with vol 20 developer for 35 (ish) minutes to pull out the remaining color and then tone it again.. she said do the lightener tonight, use a conditioning sealer?? tone it either tomorrow or the next day, and then do the aphogee 2 step treatment..
I am nervous to do this, moisture is starting to come back into my hair and while I like the blonde and would like the brass color out I am thinking is it just too soon to go at it again? if it is too soon when do I know it would be alright to try to get to my desired color? I do like the blonde a lot more than black I feel like it is ok for my grays to grow out more since it looks so close to the blonde anyway.. my goal is to get to a point where I only redo my root growth every 3 months or so..
Any advice I can get is soo soo welcome.. I cut 4 inches off already and I don't particularly want to loose more.

Oh and it is not mushy when it's wet anymore. and while I it still feels dry it is getting better and doesn't take as long to dry too.

I know that many want to cut costs by trying to bleach hair at home, BUT I would definitly say you should go to a Salon. They can take a look at your hair, choose the right colours to rescue your hair ;) I had the same journey years ago. I always wore black hair and then noticed gray hairs. Now I get blonde Highlights in two tones on my complete head. At first I tried to do it at home, but my hair turned out orange :( I had the choice: go back to brown or go to a hairdresser. And it was the best choice ever to visit an hairdresser! My hairdresser recommended Highlights, because gray hairs disappear in them, even when your color is growing out ;) I paid about 180€ (my wallet was bleeding!), but it was worth every penny! They changed my complete color and cut off a little bit, but it looked way better!! So please. Go and talk to an hairdresser. It can save you a lot of bad feelings and your hair. Oh and keep up the TLC for your hair :) your hair will get better :) and tell me what you decided on to do!

I am a blonde but being nervous is not good I reckon. You should be confident, it can be negotiable if you are not bold but confidence is most needed. Have these https://www.reecoupons.com/view/choies Choies coupon codes to get some ideas for dresses. Have a good hair cut, good make up and you are ready to rock.

When making that drastic of a change you should always go to a salon. But since you have already started the process you will have to continue if you want to be completely blonde.
After you you complete your process and tone you'll need to do some serious repair. Hot oil treatments weekly, deep conditions, and pick up some Malibu Shampoo and Conditioner. This will keep you blonde. I use sweet almond oil, 100% extra virgin coconut oil, and argan oil mixed and warmed for my hot oil treatments. I religiously dye my hair every six weeks and my stylist always compliments how gorgeous my hair is.
