OK so I am 15 and so not many girls at my school wear makeup so much or to the extent that I wear it. We are a uniform school but some days they let us wear casual clothes and everything. Some girls usually go for a light Base and mascara others might go all out like I do. I contour and do my eyebrows (my pfp was before I learned how) and do eye makeup (but not too heavily as it's school). Your not allowed to wear makeup on a usual school day at all. So people are often surprised when I wear makeup. Allot of the time I get told I look like barbie! I'm not sure why but it really rubs me wrong. I don't wear pink lipstick or anything but just do a nude contour and my blush is very very faint as my skin in naturally a bit pink. But anyway I would like some good responses to being called that! If you could help I would really appreciate it!

Ideally, if you really want to know why they say you look like a Barbie is to ASK the person whobis saying it. Just respond, "Why would do you say that".

I agree with marleen. that statement could mean a whole host of things across the board. its best to communicate with the people telling you this to both find out their true intentions and let them know you don't like it so it doesn't continue bothering you.

Honestly that is a strange comment to make about someone. Maybe they think you are pretty without makeup? I don't have a real response back, but you should do whatever makes you happy. If you want to wear makeup then you should do it! It shouldn't matter what people think. Also, makeup is a hobby for some people and it's not just a confidence boost. So essentially I wouldn't worry about personal appearance comments. It's not worth the worry!

I would take that 2 ways hun. 1 could mean that you are wearing far too much product / the wrong formula product on your face and your skin looks fake. Or you could be wearing the wrong colors for your tone and look like a Barbie doll. 2 they could really mean that you look amazingly stunning when you do your makeup! I agree with the other ladies, you should ask very specific what it is about your makeup that makes them think that. And don't take generic answers. If, by chance it's because you are wearing something you think looks good, but in school light looks terrible, I'm sure you'd rather know. I'm 37 now, but in high school my best friend was the only one that wore makeup and she unfortunately thought she was doing amazing. She actually looked horrible!! No one actually told her the truth just to be nice. But now that we are older she looks back and gets mad at us for never helping her to realize it. I get told every day my skin looks amazing and great cheek bones. I reply it's the make, duh! Lol. But they always say "you don't even wear makeup" But I didn't learn over night how to get that look. Btw, your profile pic is beautiful luv!
