I am 17 years old with dry-combination skin and I have mild acne. I'm so self conscious about it. Any tips on how to get rid of it? Or tips on how to not be so self conscious about it?

Well, what I do to help with my self consciousness is I lay off the internet. There has been a study that shows looking at selfies of other people can raise envy levels and self hate. I take a bunch of pictures of myself and me with my friends and keep those in my phone so when I feel down I can look at the pictures and say "Oh well would you look at that? I'm having fun with my friends and my acne has no say in it " You can't help it if you get acne or not, but if you do, just don't mind it, because it happens. So if people want to say anything about it, they can just go and shove it down their throats because you are beautiful inside and outside. :)

Hey I have that too. It really sucks. Have you ever tried hyaluronic acid? It moisturizes without clogging your pores. I mix it with my CeraVe moisturizer every night and it's the perfect combo. If I have any dry patches, I dab some aquafor on it overnight. As for my acne, I use Retin A Micro at night and Clindamycin Phosphate every morning. This helps keep breakouts at bay, but you have to be very rigorous with it. You may breakout still with this regimen, but it's definitely decreased it drastically for me. I'd go to a dermatologist and get a consultation. Everyone has different kinds of acne, so you might get prescribed something totally different. I hoped this helped! Also, remember that acne doesn't define you at all. Lots of gorgeous people have struggled with it (Kendall Jenner comes to mind). Hope you have a great day!

In my opinion I feel like perhaps everyone will go through a stage where they won't feel 100% happy with their skin, whether it be mild acne or more on the severe side I think it's important to remember that "acne" doesn't define you as a person and anybody that takes any time of the day to even think or speak to you in a negative manner about it is really just showing you the sort of horrible/shallow personality that particular person has, which is in no way a reflection of you as a person. Literally so many people go through acne, I've been fortunate enough to only have minor breakouts here and there, my skin has it's ups and downs, good days and not so good days but I feel like you should just remember it's probably only temporary and there's probably a solution. Have you been to a dermatologist? :) x

My daughter is 19 and she still feels the same way, she has suffered with acne since she was 15, retin a cream worked quite well for her, when taken with an antibiotics. She still has scaring and it still flares up from time to time, overall like brook said and the same thing I tell my daughter we all have something we are unhappy with (me personally is my weight) but you are beautiful inside and out matter what!! My daughter is very anti makeup the complete opposite of me lol but I helped her find a really good foundation and taught her how to apply it properly and now she says that helps her feel more confident (:

Everyone gets acne don't let it make you feel any less beautiful! But honestly can't even blame you cause we all deal with this! Try tea tree oil, oxy pads, witch hazel and rose water. I have almost the same combination of skin and these really work for me. Also you'll need a good moisturizer to lay down afterwards.

Girl, I feel you! I have struggled with confidence due to Acne for over 15 years! The way my breakouts evolved throughout my 20s was devastating. Here is what worked for me:
Mild breakouts-small, inconsistent, surface oriented (teens early-20s): full face routine (cleanse, tone, moisturize) + topical cream (Benzaclyn-from dermatologist)
Consistent Breakouts- mixture between surface and cystic breakouts (mid 20s): antibiotics and topical cream treatments, same face routine and learned that less really is more at the MAC counter. I always thought I needed extremely matte and full coverage foundation but I was wrong! Focus on using a thin layer of foundation first and then spot treat /conceal breakouts. I felt my skin was finally breathing, my skin looked (nearly) flawless and and I had half the product on.
Severe acne- constant breakouts , mostly cystic--> I struggled so much with confidence here. If you're at this point, I just literally thanked the makeup gods for their power every morning when I got ready. I just told myself, "stick to the process. you will slay in 5 minutes." I also began accutane treatment which is not for everyone but I have never looked back.
Hang in there chica! You are beautiful and makeup is powerful! It is only a phase- whether it's through treatment or you grow out of it... acne will not get the best of you!

I'm 20 and I've been struggling with acne for the past 2 years. Just recently I began a treatment with antibiotics but I think I will soon start accutane treatment.
Acne is a horrible thing because, not only does it affect your skin, it affects your brain too. How many days I've woken up not wanting to go to college or do anything basically because I was tired of having to put make-up on to go out, because I wouldn't be able to go out looking like I look! Something that bothers me too is the way some people look at you like acne is a disease, or they look at you with pity. What I try to do is not to think about these people but focus on the good people that understand what acne is and just don't care about it being on your face, and see behind all of these spots or acne scars. The important thing is LOVING YOU, no matter what. No matter if you're wearing foundation, no matter if you have 10x more acne because of PMS. I always take time to look at myself in the mirror and tell myself "I look good today" or "my make-up is poping today" stuff like that. You need to hear compliments, either from the man you love, or youself (in my case I don't have any so I compensate a lot with myself lol!!). Oh and one more thing, INSTRAGRAM IS NOT REAL LIFE. Pictures can hide soooooooo much, sometimes my skin texture looks terrible but just with natural light, no filter, it seems perfect. And knowing that it could be the case for everyone helps me rationalize and be realistic.
Hope you'll be less self conscious about it! You're a beautiful person no matter what Bekka!
