Hey,
Is there anyone out there who is a beauty therapist or make up artist?
This is my passion, and I am thinking about training to become a beauty therapist and make up artist, but just wanted some of your opinions on it as a job?
I know everyone has different views and everyone is different, but I just thought, what more of a better place to ask?
What are the pros and cons of the job, is it enjoyable & does it pay well?
Thanks in advance :) x

Beauty therapist?? I've never heard of this. Can you maybe explain more about the difference between a makeup artist and a beauty therapist?

Maybe it's a UK/English thing. We class a beauty therapist as someone who performs treatments / conducting skin analysis & advising clients. Performing facial/body massages & treatments, e.g, nails, eyelashes tinting and extensions, eyebrow tinting and shaping etc. And a make up artist is someone who will do the make up on clients. X.

Ohh ok. Makes sense. Yea here in the US we don't refer to it as a beauty therapist...I think it would be more like an esthetician here.

I'm currently studying cosmetology so I'm being trained in hair care, skin care, and nails. I would say the pros of working in the industry would be that you get to work with a lot of really cool people while doing something you absolutely love. You will always be finding new tricks and products that you can try out on yourself, your friends, and your clients. Like any job you'll have down sides. I would have to say the biggest for me is dealing with clients who are not easily satisfied. In these situations you just have to do your best to find an equal meeting ground with them. It is a lot of work to perfect your skills but it will defiantly be worth it. When it comes to pay it is all based on you! It depends on how much you charge per service, if you rent out a space to work from, how many clients you have, etc.
