So Wayne goss recently spoke out against YouTube "gurus" who use live photo shop while shooting their videos here:
http://www.cosmopolitan.co.uk/beauty-hair/makeup/news/a49231/wayne-goss-live-photoshop-video/
And I really am thankful that he finally spoke up about it - because I feel like it cause a lot of frustration between normal people who use the same techniques they see online but then come out looking like a hot cakey mess - but for some "strange" reason the YouTube "guru" looks flawless... well now you guys have an insider look as to why that is...
Hopefully this will stop us from feeling like we are doing something wrong and realize that a lot of those "gurus" are just using photo shop to look flawless as opposed to good makeup techniques - in any case I also wanted to share with you guys and get your opinions on this phenomenon - how do you feel about Wayne goss speaking out about it - and how do you think it will change how you look at YouTube gurus? Or how do you currently feel about those YouTube gurus before knowing this?
Would love to hear from the community about this topic! Thanks!

I wish we didn't have to resort to a YouTuber having to tell the public that videos are edited.
I did Digital Design, and hold certifications for it.
I always knew the videos were edited from Day 1.
I know a lot of people don't or refuse to believe they are.
I still remember the first time I joined the forum, some guy was asking how to be as flawless as a really big YT star.. told him it was edited. He got so offended I would 'assume so' and told me it was 'impossible' to edit videos! (Soo explain to me how movies like 'transformers' are done then? Explosions? Monsters? Outer space?? Finding Nemo??? Shrek?? I wanna meet Optimus Prime then lol!)
I understand why YT gurus edit..
Your face is being published to thousands of people.. it's normal to want to look 'flawless'.
But the editing can only go so far..
Remove some pimples... even out skin tone...erase some flyaway hairs... brighten eyes and teeth.
That's perfect in my opinion.
But then these YTers have a completely different face/eye/body shape when you see them. I think that's a little toooo much.
I had to deal with an 'IG Star' at work... complete 180! Her photos looked 'flawless' by IG standards. But those photos concealed the fact that she had every surgery done in the book.
So it makes me wonder how many girls are looking at her photos and upset that they don't have the 'assets' she does. You can't tell on her photos at all! RL was very obvious.

Definitely agree with you kitty - I think some of us get that the "flawless" face is not really obtainable but I see so many posts on here and under YouTube channels saying that the person in the video looks flawless and amazing! But then someone tried the same techniques and didn't get the same results - and that's when it's really sad because they advertise that you can achieve this flawless look if you just do what I do.. but that's completely false and really not cool for people who don't realize what's going on :T.

I don't even watch people who filter that heavily anymore. It's distracting and it makes me question their honesty about everything they review,

🙌🙌 I agree with everything said so far. it creates false expectations and reflects on the person's honesty. editing a pic for promotional reasons will still get you there side eye from me, but it at least serves a purpose. editing a video does not. it's just ones more way to manipulate these followers they must secretly hate.

I love this post! For the longest time it drove me crazy that they had this perfect poreless flawless foundation look, no creasing and all of that and I just couldn't get it.
Finally I realized, there's just no way they're that perfect.

I saw his video. I agree. Its not okay to give your audience that kind of "false" image. Lets just keep in mind that obviously not everybody does it. Lets not include every "famous" youtube "guru".
It seems like there is always some kind of thread on here about youtubers, and its usually not that positive.

I agree that there are a lot of channels that give a false impression on what is and isn't achievable with just makeup. Even before I started doing my own makeup I knew the YouTubers I was watching were filtered so when I finally did start getting into makeup I knew not to expect "perfect" and "flawless". When I started my own channel I decided to not use filters so that I could set a realistic expectation for the makeup look I was doing. I'm really glad to see that the community is now taking the time to open people's eyes about something that's always been a not so hidden secret.

I feel like it took Wayne Goss forever to talk about a known fact about what has been going on for a while now but glad he finally did. I will add that the new Manny Maybelline ad pic is such a good example as to how far the manipulation of makeup photo fraud for a buck to sell products has gone. It's a shame.

It really is a shame! Like I don't really understand why they have to make everything seem so unrealistic and unachievable - like if you're confident in your products or techniques you really shouldn't need to use photo shop in any way - but I guess that just says how unconfident they really are :T but thanks for your input as well alma! :)
