Brook, I'm not exactly sure why that happened. Was your hair one solid color before you died it?

My hair was blonde before I dyed it. I didnt wash my hair 24 hours after dying it.

Looks like to me that the dye didn't fully "hold on" to the hair unfortunately I don't know the cause or fix sorry

I recommend getting a protein filler before you colour your hair darker because being blonde means there's no pigment in your hair so adding a base for the colour to stick to will help. Also, try a different brand of dye next time, I personally find the best dyes to use are the garnier ones. :)

If you can't find a filler I recommend buying a dye maybe 1/2 shades darker than your imagining and then wait for it to fade a couple of washes to the colour you want (it will fade)

This could be many things. First, the outcome of a drugstore colour is very hard to predict because it's a "one size fits all" solution. What I mean is at a salon, they consult you about your hair and a number of factors are taken into consideration, therefore resulting in a custom formula for your hair condition. Second, your hair could be very porous and the colour is unable to stay in the cuticle; or the complete opposite, you have low porosity and you need a stronger volume to open your cuticle so the colour can get in there. Sorry if I'm using too much jargon! Hope this gives you some sort of idea.

Thanks Susan and Shaye!

It told you not to wash the bottle of color that you applied? Or, rinse the hair well. And wash and condition 24 hours later?! 😳

I don't know sorry but I always get my hair done at my hairdressers because I can trust them, I would never do it myself ♡

It happened because color can't lift color, is say given the circumstances it did fairly well actually. Please please don't try to fix it yourself :/

Jaime: it said for the color to stay put well, only use the conditioner after rinsing out the dye. And then not to wash it again for 24 hours.
Anna: thanks for the advice
Kylee: Thank you
