Hey everybody, hope all is well:)
I've been dying to go gray and I know the maintenance is pretty ridiculous from what I've heard. I was looking up the process of going gray and I've already talked to my hairdresser.
I'm worried about the bleaching part because I've never had to do that before with my blonde or red. And I have curly hair so I'm wondering if that will affect it.
My hair dresser said she would use olaplex and do a really good trim or cut after the bleaching, which I'm not worried about because my hair is long and grows fast.
Just wondering if you guys think it's worth it? Anyone who has had a similar experience as I've never been through such a process. Thank you!

I also love this but I'm leaning more towards the darker charcoal gray.

Girl yes, the bleach will change your curl pattern, my hairs only just started getting curly again in the last few months since I was blonde at the end of 2014 haha! :( had to grow it all out for it to return back to normal. But I feel like you'll only need maybe 1/2 bleachings for your hair to be light enough for the silver so it shouldn't effect it too much. I personally didn't find it worth it when my hair was white but I honestly now that I think about it had a problem with every colour I ever went cause my orange roots clash with every colour pretty much haha! Don't worry, your hair will be fine if she's using olaplex, I've seen that stuff work wonders lol :)

If she is using olaplex, your hair will turn out even better then it was before. That stuff is like magic! You only need to consider if you really want it since its pricey. and find a really good salon. But if you really want it I would say go for it! Its really cool and with the olaplex your hair won't be damaged :)

Thanks guys! So the olaplex stuff is pretty good? I only just heard about it a couple months ago lol so I didn't really know how great it was, but that's comforting :) thank you all for your feedback it's really helpful!
And thank you Renay! I'm definitely going to wait and put a little more thought into it and make sure I wanna go through with all that mess lol, but I do want it so bad!

Yep olaplex is the shittttt haha :) I haven't used it yet but I've watched people have their hair done with it and it always looks 100x healthier then before they even started bleaching it haha.

Is your hair red right now? I'm just going off of your profile pic. If so, I'm going to say you will definitely need to bleach it out even if you're going for a darker gray. You won't get the look you want if you don't. All of the pics you see of gray hair online have been lightened to a level 10 (brightest blonde) before applying that gray toner/color

Stacie yes it's red! :) I know it'll have to bleached but do you think it'll have to be more than one or 2 times?

They should only have to bleach it once and perhaps spot bleach other places that don't lift as much the second time :) they'll tone it though in the meantime if you have to go for another bleach session in a month so it isn't brassy while you wait. :)

I have heard soooooo soooo many good reviews and I've seen amazing transformations with oaplex. I've never personally used it, but my older sister who is a licensed cosmetologist uses it and she says it really does help your hair and make it better then it was before!

Okay awesome Shaye! So it will be like a 2 to 3 visit process? It's nice having someone with lots of hair knowledge on here haha.
Sheslay I've been looking it up for the last hour or so and it seems pretty awesome!

I'd say what they'd do is either strip the red out or bleach it out on the first session, if it comes out light enough the first time you may not even have to go back, but because they're using olaplex they might even just do all the bleaching on the one day and have it done in one session. But if your red doesn't lift enough for your hairdresser to be satisfied it'll go the colour you want you may have to go a second time for a second bleaching but I think most places can get it done in one session, if not I'm sure it won't be more than two :)

Okay that's great! Thank you Shaye:)) I think I'm going to go for it you guys have made me feel less nervous lol

Definitely ask for olaplex, and I can't really say how much it'll take to get the red out, I think that's something you and your hairdresser will discover when you're getting it done!

Thanks Stacie! I talked to her and she said she would definitely use the olaplex :)
