Why is it every time I use mac foundation I break out but when I use other foundations I don't? I hear that a lot of people breakout using Mac so I wonder what exactly is in the foundation that's causing this issue?
What's a good long wearing matte foundation?

Honestly after stopping with Mac studio fix fluid my skin has cleared up so much. I now use IT cosmetics CC cream and I love it!!

I feel like it's because they're foundations that should be used on occasion apposed to everyday use, when I used to studio fix I didn't really like it because it was such a heavy feeling foundation, that was a few years ago. I didn't break out from it but nc15 didn't match me and I don't think they make lighter shades then that in Australia lol.

I didn't break out from it but, like Shaye, I felt it to be a very heavy feeling product. For an amazing long wearing matte foundation I suggest Estée Lauder Double Wear, it's lightweight, long wearing, and transfer resistant with medium to full coverage (:

I've used MAC makeup since I was...14. I'm 20 now and I've never broken out from any of their foundations.
Perhaps there's an ingredient that doesn't agree with certain people.
I believe MAC started out as a theatrical makeup brand so these types of makeup are usually a little heavier.
I usually use the oil method to really make sure I get it all off before I actually cleanse.
For me personally, the only foundation I've used recently that caused me to break out is the L'orèal Pro Matte.
A few good options would be the MUFE Mat Velvet, Revlon Colorstay (if you can find a shade in that range)
Iman Second to None Stick foundation, Maybelline Fit me Matte and Poreless, Bare Minerals Matte foundation, Sephora Airbrush Mist one was pretty good too.

Shaye. I have the studio fix fluid and I did have the pro long wear too and I don't wear makeup often but when I do once I take the makeup off I noticed I have a few pimples that formed.
Alexis, I had the Estée Lauder dw and it was too drying for me. I would exfoliate and still had dry patches after I applied that foundation.
Jacqueline, I appreciate the in depth information. I do have acne prone skin therefore I should conduct some research about the ingredients in this foundation and so I know what could be the cause of my break outs so I know for future reference. I have the Lancôme tieint idole but I didn't like it because of the color I was matched with. I may have to try it again but in the correct color. I will definitely look into Laura mercier foundation.
Jasi, I had nars foundation but I didn't like it because it oxides on me into an orangey color.
Aurora, would you see the Sephora air brush must is a dupe for the Dior?
Jan 20, 2016

I'd say it's a pretty spot on dupe. The Sephora one is a little more matte compared to the Diorskin Airflash which gave a slight dewiness. Other than that they are the same as far as coverage and longevity.
Another good matte product is the CoverFX custom cover drops which I forgot to mention. I use mine with a regular silicone based primer and it worked great on my skin and I'm oily/I also perspire and that stuff stayed on good.

I did try out the cover fx custom drops and really liked it. I'm thinking about purchasing that or the actual foundation by cover fx

I've never had an issue with Mac foundations and I've used it forever but turning 30 did. I second the hormones theory

Have you tried the Becca Ultimate coverage complexion creme. It's long lasting and gives a nice finish to the face.

Janay, I have but its so damn hard to find my color. I actually really love that foundation. I was matched for fawn but that's too dark on me so I tried to match myself and tan is too pink for my skin tone and bamboo is a little too dark but I was going to purchase bamboo but ulta didn't have it in stock at that time. I'm thinking of trying out Laura mercier foundation.

I'm 16 and whenever I do my foundation routine I never cover my acne, does anyone have tips for me.

MAC makes a lot of people break out. I don't know what's in it, but I don't know anyone who doesn't break out using their face makeup. I know it was originally a theater makeup which is why you get such great coverage, but I don't think everyone can use it.
I don't recommend a dermatologist, I don't think drugs are the answer. Go see an esthtician - get regular facials and get on a good skin care regimen. The Bioclear Lotion (Jan Marini) helps get all of the junk out of your skin.
