Nyx is good thing to start with they are only like 6 dollars so you could buy a few and try a few different colors.

If you have a brown skin tone (I have one as well), I would personally recommend more pinky nudes but that's just my preference. I really enjoy matte beauty by Clinique as well as melted chihuahua by Too Faced. Those are both nudes that I think are gorgeous. Another one, although the it's very much on the pinky side of nudes, is 08 by Rimmel London in their Long Lasting by Kate collection.

I think red would look great on dark skin!
