Hi guys! I recently discovered a Pinterest hack that I thought was the coolest thing ever - APPLYING LIPSTICK OVER CONCEALER FOR A MATTE LOOK. I wanted to let other people know about it and ask if anyone knew more about it to help improve it!
What I did:
I tested this out several times. Unfortunately I don't have pictures at the moment but if anyone is interested I would be willing to post them.
I tried a Sephora red over my elf tube concealer (I didn't want to waste high end concealer). The concealer was very thick on my lips, because I applied it straight out of the tube with the little sponge brush. I tried applying the lipstick over it, and it didn't do anything but take off the entire coat of concealer. I was frustrated and had to then go on and remove the concealer off my lipstick.
Then, I tried it with applying the concealer with my finger, making a much lighter layer. I loved the consistency of it on my lips, it was almost like a lip balm and had high hopes when I applied the lipstick. It immediately went on smoother. It took off a little bit of the concealer but mostly stayed and turned into a beautiful pastel baby pink. It wasn't matte, but it looked like very high quality lipstick! All in all, this was an INCREDIBLE PASTEL hack but HARDLY PASSED FOR MATTE.
If anyone knows how to make it more on the matte side, please let me know! Or share your experience!

I believe you can use a layer of translucent powder through a tissue (put the tissue over your lips and apply the translucent powder over that) to make your lipstick matte.

Oh, that sounds so much simpler. Thanks!

Cargo have a lipstick topcoat you can apply over any lipstick to make it matte.
