So I've been real fed up with my hair.
At work we can only wear our hair in pony tails or buns unless it's above shoulder length, then you can wear it down. So I decided to go with the latter and cut a bunch off!

I personally wouldn't cut my hair that short without getting the keratin done so I made an appointment.

I've had the Original Keratin done years ago! I've done it for two to three years straight and then stopped.
This time I got a 'Organic Keratin' which I found to be way different than the original so I wanted to talk about Keratin then vs now..

The first time I had the keratin done it was pretty harsh.
The salon only did two or three treatments a day at separated intervals.
All windows had to be opened and fans put into the salon to help get rid of the fumes.
I used to have to cover my face with a rag and my eyes would tear up and sting. The stylist would have to cover his face the same way.
There was a lot of smoke
And I would get migraines almost every day after getting it done.
My ends were fried while the rest was silky and soft.

This keratin didn't have any strong fumes and it didn't smell either. It had a bit of a faint fruity scent.

My hair was washed and towel dried and a bit air dried.
My stylist parted my hair and applied the product with a brush.
She applied extra again since my hair sucked it up. Afterwards she chopped off all my hair while we waited.
My mom almost cried because she loves long hair.
I was so excited just to see my hair gathered into a pony tail in her hand and scissored off.
After fourty five minutes we went outside to the salons patio and blow dried and flat ironed my hair. There was no smoke, no fumes or funky smell.
My ends weren't fried and I didn't get any kind of headaches.
I went to a pricey salon and paid $280 but it was worth it. There are salons that still use formulas similar to the original keratin and while it's cheaper I don't find the migraines or fumes to be worth it.
I go back in another four to five months for a second session and a trim.
My hair is really silky right now and I'm really happy with it.
I bought a shampoo, conditioner, leave in and a mask to help take care of my hair.

That's so pretty! will it stay straight after you wash it or do you have to straighten it?

All the hair we cut off! My ends had no curl due to getting over processed from a Revlon hair dye.

@Galina what I like is that the treatment she did isn't meant to alter your curl pattern but it relaxes it so that I can still wear it short. I'm assuming that it'll be like the first keratin I've had done which was like having your hair straightened but having those messy beach waves! I'm excited to see how my curl pattern will turn out.

I'm sorry to hear that happened Miriah! I had a couple of friends who recommend me to their stylist who had low prices but just by looking at their hair I could tell it wasn't going to come out nice lol. If it's too good to be true it probably is... The high price hurts but if I get at least 280 days of my hair being like this then it's like paying a dollar a day lol. Thanks for the compliment!

Thanks Jackie! From what I've been able to find out, most of the organic ones are formaldehyde free and have vitamins and other hair goodies infused in them.
Raylene, the Keratin is a hair smoothing treatment that can greatly reduce frizz and cut down on style time. It leaves your hair very silky!
