You can go to a make up counter and have them match you.

Hi Mercedes, you can use findation.com for an idea on the shades you would be in a foundation be entering what shade you are in other foundations. I use this to get an idea before I go to a counter and make them match me.

Sephora has a Pantone Color Match IQ system... I'd recommend trying that out :)

No 7 has a skin checker, and they match your foundation and concealer, if in other ways you are not going to a counter, just the shelves, I would take the foundation on the back of your hand and lightly blend and if you are looking for an exact match you shouldn't be able to see it, or if you would like one darker, you should be able to see it, but you shouldn't be seeing it too dark, again if you would like it lighter than your skin make sure it's not too light by swatching your highlight and the foundation. I also would make sure that you test it with your bronzer, because if you put foundation on your neck you shouldn't have a orange/ brown face and a bright white neck!!
These are the best ways for me:)

When going to a makeup counter make sure you look at the foundation in natural lighting. They tend to have those really bright lightings and it ends up not being your true color

You shouldn't check on your neck get the 3 closest foundations that you think will match your skin tone put 3 swatches across your cheek/jaw. Ovs with no other makeup on underneath. then see which one naturally blends in with your skin. try to do it in natural day light not store light
