It's setting powder over you're highlight for atleast a couple of minutes it'll give you a nice setting look & it looks great in pictures :)

I wouldn't say it's a trend, but a lot of makeup tricks now originate from drag artists, such as the Instagram fade brow (known as HD brows), cut creases, Kim K style contouring, etc. Christina explained it brilliantly. It's only really meant to be used for oily skin but a lot of people use it now. I wouldn't say it's a trend per-se, I'd just say it's been brought over from the drag artistry community and popularised in the general makeup community.

If it appears too cakey or drying you can spray a setting spray. That'll add more moisture back to the face and create a dewy-matte finish
