Well, what is a curly hair journey? So far the only thing I can find is that they treat their hair properly for their curls and don't use heat... Is that it? Does curly hair get curlier if you don't use heat and treat it properly?

It absolutely can. how your curls form depends a lot of genes and your hair texture and type. but healthy curls have more elasticity and definition in general. so even if your hair doesn't spiral any more than before avoiding heat and certain damaging or weighing ingredients can help to define your type of curl or wave and make them easier to manage or style. a curly hair journey is just a phrase for when you start paying attention to what your curls need to be healthy and doing it instead of rejecting your natural pattern with straighteners and creams.

A curly hair journey is when a curly girl starts wearing her curls and taking care of them.
for example, I straightened my hair everyday and wore extensions for years and years. then about 5 years ago, I decided to let my hair be natural and started taking care of my curls. my curls were very ugly and damaged. with time and good treatment, I now have long strong curly hair! my curls definitely got tighter are nore defined.

Recently the journey has gotten a bit more complicated after I bleached my hair, but I can say good treatment has definitely helped getting them back to what they were before!
I find that letting my hair dry naturally is what works best for my curls after putting some cream on, and the next day I spray some water to revive them! I love how low maintenance curly hair is :D maybe the only downside is the time it takes to detangle in the shower after a couple days without brushing it (if I brush my curls I end up looking like the lion king)

Did you just call curls low maintenance? *breaks into maniacal laughter* tell that to my wallet and the hour of my life that is spent grooming them after every shower, wash day or not. I envy the ease people with naturally straight/slightly wavy hair have so much!

I did! 😅 maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. I seriously barely spend two minutes after the shower (compared to the 2h it takes to straighten it) I just crunch them up with some curl-cream and thats about it!
I might be one of the few people who is actually happy with the way their hair looks and isn't constantly wishing for a different hair type :)
