Not sure if I put this under the right category so if the I did I'm sorry.

Any way I have never used an eyelash curler and I would really like to start using it. I have long lashes but they are only curled at the tips. I would like some eyelash curler suggestions for getting all the lashes especially the outer corner lashes and giving a nice curl without giving my lashes the L shape.

Thank you!

When you curl your lashes, it's easier to open your eyes. After they are curled and have the L shape them put mascara on.

There is no universal or 1 size fits all lash curler. To get the best results, you have to take into consideration the shape of the eye, and the construction of the curler. Every lid size, shape, and curve(the curve from corner to corner is different from person to person, and so are lash curlers. ;)

Most good lash curlers tend to lean towards the more traditional Japanese curlers which cater to those with wider and more flat eye shapes(Shu Uemura being the most loved and popular.) If you have larger eyes and longer lashes, Shiseido's curler is flat out awesome. This curler has no edge to it which makes it easy to grab and properly curl the lashes with one pump. Curlers like Shu's and Shiseido's work better for flatter, less curved types of eye shapes.

In my opinion, the best and most universal curlers for most every eye shape (but primarily round because it is the more common shape) would have to be Kevyn Aucoin's and Billy B.'s. Both of these curlers are sold here on Beautylish. Kevyn did design Shu's curler, but he felt that it wasn't quite universal enough in terms of shape, so he designed another one under his own name with a wider cage which gives the most precise curls, period. I love Billy's because as with Kevyn's it works with most eye shapes and it provides the right amount of pressure to give a really nice curl and lift to most any lash line. There's something about Billy B.'s curler that made me fall in loved with it the minute I used it. It just feels right in my hand, and when you find the right lash curler for you, you'll know it.

How to curl lashes without getting that bent crimp? Well no one curls lashes the exact same way, but here's how I do it:

You start by opening the curler as wide as it will go, and then bring it to your upper lash line. You want to make sure that you get the strip right up to the root (s) of the your lashes. Make sure that you have all of the lashes inside the curler, and place the curler upright, so that the curve faces outwards not upwards. Then just close the curler very carefully on the lashes and squeeze LIGHTLY. This is where most people make the largest mistake when curling lashes. Press to hard... you'll get that bent crimp. What you want to do is use a soft pulsing grip action. Next, turn your curler upwards so that the curve of the lash curler lines up with the exact curve of your lid’s crease, again gently squeezing the handles in small pulses with very light pressure. You want to hold the curler in place for a few seconds. Then just move the curler up from the root of the lash all the way to the tips of the lashes while gently pressing and moving over the lashes with the same same pressure until you reach the tips. In your case, what you want to do is stop just short of the tips of your lashes. It takes the right curler for your eyes and a little practice to get it just right.  ;)

Just be sure to be careful, especially if you put mascara on beforehand, because eyelash curlers have a tendency to pull out eyelashes

I've never liked lash-curlers. My mom taught me how to use a spoon for that purpose and I SWEARING by it!! Small tea spoon. Not very sharp, not blunt either. It will give you a round curl, not the L shape you get with curlers. https://youtu.be/dVAu3X9zScs
This video is kind of meh... But it shows you the technique very clearly. Hope it helps.
