Everything I need to know about getting a Clarisonic.

This is going to be a lengthy post so I hope you all can bare with me here 😬

I wasn't planning on getting one yet however I got a 20% off from Ulta that I thought this would be a smart thing to use it on...

My skin is pretty normal in terms of oily or dry. I only get dry patches if I overuse retina creams. I never have problems with oil.

I do have blackheads on my nose and some texture around my nose. I also feel like when I look in my magnified mirror that I don't think my foundation blends into my skin well, or maybe that's just an insecurity I don't know. I also get occasional huge painful pimples.

So what I'm wondering is if a clarisonic is actually worth the investment? Will it help with my painful pimples, and the texture of my skin?

Also how is it different than knocK-off facial brushes?

I would appreciate all and any information you guys could give me :)

The Clarisonic is the best investment I've ever made from my skin. I went from oily skin to much more normal, a lot less breakouts, and my other skincare products sink into my skin so wonderfully.

The difference between a Clarisonic and other skin cleansing brushes is that the brush head itself doesn't move like other brush heads, which can cause micro tears and damage to the skin. The Clarisonic uses sonic pulses to deeply cleanse the skin.

I highly recommend it!

Thanks Alexis! Which one did you get? Mia 1 or 2?

I got the Mia 1, I didn't see any reason for the other speeds or whatever else the other models do. The one speed on the Mia 1 is just fine.

I have both mia 1 and 2...you don't need to buy 2...just one speed is fine...I agree with alexis...and depending on your skin you might consider getting the delicate skin brush headone...I like that one

I got my clarisonic and I LOVE it, now I have much less breakouts and it's just the best thing that's happened to my skin, I got the Mia two, you don't have to get Mia 2 since the first speed it fine I guess but in the morning I use the first speed and at night I use the second speed ( which is handy ) and it gives me a much deeper cleanse than he first speed :) I love my Mia two!

I agree with the other girls. I love mine and it has definitely made my skin a lot better in terms of oiliness (I'm usually super oily) and I get far less spots now compared to when I didn't have it. It's definitely worth it.

Best skin investment! I have had a Clarisonic for 4 years now and I will never go without! In the 4 years of having one, I have only not used it seriously 2 times ever because I could tell such a difference in those two times! I have both the 1 and 2 (I was traveling a lot so I bought another so I wouldn't forget it). Go with the 1st one though. It has the different settings with the 2, but I seriously never use it, so save your money.

I never had the purging issue like some have. I don't like the Clarisonic cleansers so I use whatever face soap I am currently using. I use it once a day @ night, AFTER I remove my makeup (I want the Clarisonic to deep cleanse my skin, not just try to remove my makeup). A lot of people complain that it "isn't working" or whatever, but usually that happens when 1) people are not using it everyday; its safe, its meant for everyday use, so use it everyday. Otherwise, you won't see results. And 2) the brush head makes a hugeeeee difference. If you are using the wrong brush for your skin type, then it might cause some irritation and seem like too much for everyday use, but if you have the right brush you won't have that issue. I use the delicate, the sensitive is too strong for me... And 3) don't press too hard! You don't need to, it does all the work for you.

Now comparing to other brushes. The Clarisonic is expensive for a reason. Its good, it was well worth the money, I would honestly pay more money for it because it works that great. Cheaper brushes are not good because they don't have the sonic pulses that the Clarisonic offers. Cheaper alternatives will do exactly what Alexis mentioned, which cause micro tears that you won't notice at first, but your skin sure will in the future. The only other device that is safe like the Clarisonic, is the Luna; but I don't recommend that... Just a personal opinion from personal experience and comparing it to my Mia... If you have any other questions just ask!

Thank you everyone for your help! I guess I will go with the Mia 1?

How do I know which brush head to get?!

Jul 15, 2016

It comes with the Sensitive Brush head so use that for a bit and see how your skin reacts to it (like if it causes any irritation) and then it'll just be trial and error to see which brush head works for you.

I'm coming to the party a little late, but I'll offer my two cents!

I received my Mia 2 for gratis about two years ago, but I'd definitely spend the money on one as I have once or twice for gifts.

The Clarasonic brush head technology differs from a lot of the other brushes on the market as the brush gently vibrates using sonic pulsing waves, and doesn't move from side to side. This is good as it doesn't irritate the skin and make it raw.

I ended up buying the Mia 2 for my 80-year-old grandmother because it came with a travel case, otherwise I wouldn't say you really need the second speed unless you have extremely oily, problematic skin. One feature that the Mia 1 doesn't have is the T-timer, which will gently vibrate the handle to tell you to move to another location on your face. In time, according to my former cast members, you'll get used to the 80-second timer.

One thing I always warned people about was the 30-day purge period. It's the same idea when you do a detox, you end up extracting all of the bad things in a way that may be uncomfortable, so in the case of the Clarasonic, that includes breakouts. I have super dry skin and and more of an issue with texture than pimples, so I didn't experience it. Also, if you find your skin feels tight after using it, you should try and gradually use it more. If using it twice a day is too much, work your way toward that goal. Perfect skin does not have to be painful.

In regards to brush heads, my dry skin didn't mind the sensitive brush at first but the best brush FOR ME is from the cashmere line. If I were you, I would stick with the sensitive brush head as it's supposed to be pretty safe for everyone. I also recommended that to clients just because it's not fun to stress your skin out.

Keep in mind, this is going to be a permanent investment. The brush head can harbour bacteria so every three months or so, you're going to need a replacement.

You can use any foaming cleanser you like. My all-time favorite would be the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, but that's just me.

Just as Lisa said, I'm not a fan of the Luna machine. I personally was not a fan but my aunt, who I gifted mine to, really liked it.

Thank you Nikki! I plan on using it with the Clinique liquid face soap. I don't think the time is so necessary so I guess I'm going to go with the Mia 1. :)
