I go swimming a LOT in the summer and the chlorine really takes a toll on my hair, I usually shampoo 2x after swimming, but it doesn't help very much. What can I do to protect my hair from chlorine damage?

I go to the pool almost every day in the summer ever since I was young and my mom always told me to wet my hair in the shower before swimming and put conditioner in it and it acts as a barrier between your hair and the chlorine. Not sure if this is legit but it seems to work for me so I always do it

Are you using swimming shampoo or regular? Swimming shampoo help to take out the chlorine better than regular.

Get clarifying shampoo.. it washes out all chlorine and build up in hair, I recommend Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo.. also I would get some kind of leave in moisture spray. Paul Mitchell makes that too. you can also try any other brand you might like, but I would definitely get a clarifying shampoo and a moisture hair leave in spray

The swimmers shampoo isn't really good.. I work at a hair salon and go to cosmetology school. the swimming shampoo might help, but it also might react badly with your hair and also has other chemicals in the shampoo

Totally agree with @rhiannon P , I use paul Mitchell Clarifying Three shampoo on clients who swim in chlorine often. it's made to get rid of any kind of build up in your hair from excess products to chlorine. if you can't get the paul Mitchell brand I suggest any other good clarifying shampoo over swimmers shampoo.

I would try making a hair mask at home with some ingredients. Coconut oil is very hydrating and good for your hair, so massage it into your hair, leave it for about an hour, and then wash it out in the shower. You should see healthier and less damaged and dry hair after you're done.
