Did you use the original Smashbox primer?
I think the Photo finish light (the water based one that is kind of white rather than clear) works better for oily skin
You can get a travel size for like $16 and it has a good amount of product especially since you only need a small amount (it spreads very well)

Ok so I used to have REALLY oily skin and so one day I picked up the Nivea Men's Post Shave Balm. OMG it's amazing! It is the best primer in my opinion. I barely have to powder myself throughout the day. It's also only like $6 for a ton of product.

I use Infallible Mattifying Base primer by L'Oreal. I currently live in the Middle East, so it is upwards of 110 degrees right now, and I have no problems.

I really liked the Smashbox primer water ($16, travel size) when I had oily skin, and hourglass mineral veil ($18, travel size)

I highly recommend the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer! I bought the travel size since it was cheaper and it's lasted me forever (:

Ashley && alexis, thank you does the hourglass mineral veil hold up good?

Jenny, the Hourglass primer holds up very well, it doesn't break down from skin's oils (:

It really helped my makeup stay and look matte throughout the day. It didn't breakdown or anything, but I still would use a matte/satin foundation.

The Photo Finish Light is more of a lotion rather than a gel.
It looks more white rather than clear. Notice how it says "LIGHT" in the middle whereas the original doesn't

Ashley, do you have a suggestion on a matte/satin foundation?

When I had oily skin I swore by the Lancome Idole Teint Foundation. It's perfect for oily skin.

Oh! I just used the perfect product for this in one of my videos today! The Embryolisse Hydra Matte. It's excellent because it moisturizer but it's made for oily skin so it also mattifies.

I would really recommend the Smashbox Primer Water as well, it is beyond worth the money. Great smoothing effect to the skin, lessens the appearance of pores, and definitely prolongs the wear of your foundation. I believe it's a bit different than the other Smashbox one, so I'll try to find a picture of it for you in a second.

I used to have extremely oily skin when I was younger and still have a pretty oily T-zone area. I actually use two different primers now. One being the Smashbox original that you have been using and I use it more around the outside of my face and the upper part of my forehead, and the center of my face and just a little bit on the rest, then on my T-zone area I use the Benefit "Pore-fessional" balm. It's like $30 at Ulta but just a tiny bit goes sooooo far for me.
