I always have trouble with my foundation coming out cakey, even with a primer. Is there a way to avoid it? Also what's a good finishing powder?

What foundation are you using and how are you applying it? Are you applying it in thin layers and let the layers dry/set before applying another layer?

I use the Nars all day luminous foundation and I just apply a thin layer, with a brush, sometimes a beauty blender

I actually shave my face, the blonde hairs can make mine look cakey so when I shave it doesn't look cakey

What kind of brush? When I tried out that foundation I used a buffing brush and really worked the foundation into my skin and I never had any problems with it.

I had that same problem but I've been exfoliating my face and shaving it and doing thin layers and now it goes on smooth

I use my RT Expert Face Brush with that foundation. I also do thin layers, allowing each layer to set/dry before applying another. Works good for me. Be sure to be regularly exfoliate and properly moisturize before application.

You should apply your foundation with a flat brush & go over it with a beauty blender. Only layer it once & build up product (if you need to) on the areas of your skin that you want more coverage. Also you can invest in Mac's fix+ it's meant for foundations that look too cakey it gives the affect of a natural skin looking foundation.

After applying your foundation, wait about 10 minutes before applying your powder so you allow your foundation to set
