I've never heard of this until now. And I don't know how true or valid it is. But anyway, when you first recieve your clip ins there's supposedly a "coating" to make them silky. I knew that. What I didn't know is you're supposed to wash the hair to rid it of this coating BEFORE applying hot tools to your extensions because the coating will melt into your extensions cuticle and ruin them?! I emailed Bellami since they're the brand I bought from. I got the Boo Gatti set and want them to last since they're SO expensive and thick. Bellami told me that I SHOULD wash this coat off before use. But I'm pretty sure you're NOT supposed to wash extensions often. Why would you want to wash off the coat that makes the extensions so pretty and shiny?:/ what's YOUR input?

I would have to agree. When I didn't wash my extensions before curling them, they had a weird smell and have never felt soft since :( I would buy a shampoo and conditioner made strictly for extensions and then buy a deep conditioner. You want to use heavy conditioner since they don't get the natural oils like our hair does. When I did that it definitely helped! Hope this helps.
