I am playing the fairy godmother in a musical and I was wondering if you have any ideas for makeup. My dress is purple floorlength with a tulle skirt and there are some diamonds on the chest area. thank you.

I think the third one Kathryn posted is perfect for stage theater. its dramatic and bright and the spotlights will twinkle off the rhinestones so perfectly that the audience will see your makeup.

I like the first picture posted by Sarah w. I personally think it may look cool if the eyeshadow matched your dress but the color in the picture would be good too.

Raylene good point about theatre. I don't know where my mind went on that one. 😳

Haha Kathryn its okay I always used to be like, ahhh its too much, but when the audience is sitting quite a ways from you and you are elevated above them you need to be bold and use tons of make up. I did both dance and theatre through school and such and I remember the first play I was ever in I was 8, and I played one of the main sisters and when I came out of the makeup area my mom totally flipped over how much makeup was on my face and wanted them to tone it down and they were like shhhhh just go sit haha then once she saw me up there not exactly far as parents got the front three rows, but still, she was like oh and it clicked why it was so strong haha so yes to bold yes to a bit of glitter and yes to rhinestones!! and set it really well!! one girl in my dance class during the year end recital before competition she didn't set it and by the time she was done her dance she was a hot hot mess with makeup all over the place and in all the wrong places because the lights melted it from sweating. I felt bad for her but at least it was the recital before competition so she was able to learn from that and avoid doing the same thing in competition. ah the wonders of a stage ;)

Raylene did make a good point about makeup and theater but another thing I want to point out is to just go for something more highlighted. When you think fairy godmother I would think something not as bold as a regular fairy. And I'm not completely sure about rhinestones because being on a stage does get hot because of all the lights on you. You could end up melting it off. And makeup doesn't always have to be bold and caked on. When I did a play I did regular brown smoky eye with a red lip. One of the nights I ended up putting on more lipstick and that kind of messed up my look a little because once I got off stage and lookes in the mirror it somehow got to my chin. That was a bit embarrassing. Haha. But anyways sorry for the ramble. And I would say go for something more Fairy Godmother and not just Fairy.
